A Different Kind of Hajj Reflection

July 25th, 2020. If it weren’t for the Covid-19 travel restrictions, today we would have been on the airplane on our way to Makkah for our very first obligatory pilgrimage.

Hajj. One of the pillars of Islam. A pillar upon which Islam is built. A pillar that is to be upheld if one has the means to do so.

We had been planning for Hajj since 3 years:
2018/1439 – An unexpected commitment prevented us from going.
2019/1440 – Happy occasions and once-in-a-lifetime family festivities held us back.
2020/1441 – The year that brought the whole world to a standstill. Continue reading
