This is another one of my First’s.
She Wore Red Trainers was my first Islamic romance fiction. By ‘romance’ I mean halal romance, and not like the romance of Mills and Boons (haven’t read them, but their cover pages says it all *grim face*).
From the beginning, the author gets the reader hooked to the characters – Amirah, a lively yet shy girl, and Ali, a dashing yet quiet boy. The author beautifully portrays the love at first sight from both the characters’ perspectives. Although I am not a Young Adult per se, reading this book made me feel like one ^_^
I applaud the way the author has mentioned Islamic concepts subtly, keeping in line with the decency Islam expects.
Overall, a good read, and a good alternative for the Bollywood movies out there 😉
